The usual BS from TU.

I had to call regarding a client's power of attorney and tried the 800-680-7289 on my report. Interestingly, it's a FRAUD victim assistance # and I'm NOT a fraud victim.

They were CLOSED at 3:32 PM.

This has been an issue in my 2003 suit and Trans Union STILL *claims* to be open until 4:30 PM in the announcement, while also claiming to be closed.

Apparently TU has a phone system ROUTING the calls according to the area code of the number you call from, to ensure that as many people as possible get the "CLOSED" announcement.

So if you live in California and you call the number on your report, but you use your cell phone with a NY #, you probably get the "CLOSED" announcement when you call at 1:31 PM.

I then called the 800-916-8800 for their fraud department and that worked, but I could only leave a VM. Maybe someone will call back in a day or two.

I called 3 more times, as late as almost 6 PM in AZ. I got to talk to reps who REFUSED to delete the fraudulent fraud alert on my TU and insisted on transferring me to VM again. Finally Debbie promised to have the fraud department call me at 4 PM tomorrow.

We shall see.

This is an interesting call, they didn't even bother to put me on hold, but the announcement told me to call back later because they're busy and hung up:

I made sure I was sitting by the phone at 4 PM with my credit report on the desk.

Of course NOBODY called!
