Christine this is amazing and unbelievably true. I admire your efforts in that they lay the ground work for future efforts and will most likely be the foundation of any real change that takes place. (probably redundant)
I am experiencing the same thing over the exact same situations and I am discovering that either the CRA's (specifically Equifax) don't know the law or pretend they don't. I have been told by reps that letters I have sent by certified mail have been archived but copies are not available because archive evidently means: destroyed. The entire situation is making me ill. I have tons of information to add in that I am also one of those folks that really believes in documentation and more documentation. So I can support all of my complaints inspite of the fact Equifax has "archived" it. |

Christine, Why has no news agency taken this topic on? It seems that 60 minutes or someone, even renegade, out there would be interested. There is so much at stake here. I have actually begun recording conversations with all creditors and CRA's. Some of the recordings are hilarious. People listen and just laugh out loud,
but why are they not getting the relevance of this? Why don't people understand that they are literally becoming numbers and the process is out of control. Maybe too many think they are special. It will not take long for them to discover that they are not special. |

Regarding the news -- it's just really complicated to present a comprehensive picture. And of course reporters then talk to CRAs who claim that everything is fine and dandy except for the occasional error. Who are they going to believe?
I have spent MANY hours explaining credit scoring to journalists. Anne Kadet with Smart Money Magazine would be *the* person to ask why it is impossible to write about just ONE issue of credit scoring. Apparently she or her editor thought the Smart Money readers are too stupid to understand the balance/limit ratio. She never wrote back to me .... Another issue is of course that the media makes a TON of money off the CRA and Fair Isaac ads. Just last night I read a very good write-up on WHY people aren't upset. Essentially, people think whatever is good for the wealthy and the big corporations is good for them and that they have a chance to be rich one day. Greed II is a long read and it explains a lot. And you're certainly welcome to post recordings or documentation in the CRA topics. |
