There you have it: They make you look like an idiot.

This letter was addressed to "Belk Center" at the consumer's address. That's what you get for hiring minimum wage employees on drugs.

Fortunately, it wasn't returned undeliverable and now we all know the "proprietary techniques" developed by the credit repair law firms.

How many people need to hire someone else to make them look like idiotic morons?

BTW, the consumer is one of my long-time readers and clients and she had told Ovation all about the previous disputes with Belk - thinking that they would act in their capacity as lawyers.

The 9/04 screenshots and explanation of the Belk problems.

Obviously the consumer cancelled right away, but it was too late to stop the disputes with the bureaus.

She requested a copy of the dispute from Equifax, but Equifax DECLINED to provide it.

Why is Equifax covering up for the credit repair outfits?

Credit repair companies are God's gift to CRAs and creditors.

The borrower can't sue, has no idea what and how it was disputed and it gives the CRAs the right to refuse future disputes.

The envelope was actually YELLOW, but turned red during scanning.

To really put this idiotic Ovation dispute in perspective, you need to know the actual dispute.

Ovation was supposed to get the deletion of the "Consumer Credit Counseling" comment.

While the remark is no longer affecting FICO scores, it is most definitely a derogatory notation and devastating when a lender or landlord manually reviews reports. It's rated like a bankruptcy because you couldn't pay your bills.

*** Since CCC is a derogatory remark, it is subject to the 7 year maximum reporting as per the FCRA. Citi is famous for reporting CCC as long as the account is reported.

*** Additionally, the comment often reads like a consumer is CURRENTLY in CCC and when an account is closed and paid, that couldn't possibly be true. So you have incorrect reporting.

Read the Ovation dispute again and ask yourself why you would do business with these incompetent morons.

The CCC comment is no longer reported. A second phone call to Belk did the trick.

From http://creditfactors.com/cgi-bin/members/b...ile=/5/67.html:

"PERSISTENCE pays!

Don't just give up if the first call doesn't get you the deletion.

I once had real estate clients who didn't know that making a $100 payment for a $10 minimum payment does NOT prepay a credit card for the next 10 months.

They had CURRENT and NUMEROUS 30 and 60 day lates on a Chase card. I told them that there was NO way they'd get a mortgage with those lates.

She called Chase every day, different times, different supervisors, she made at least 20 calls. Finally they got so sick of her ("YOU again ..."), a supervisor agreed to delete the account for payment in full (it was only a few hundred dollars) and closing the account.

A few months later they moved into their new house!

I have found that women are much more persistent than guys, they usually give up after the first call.

Most creditors have procedures for "courtesy" one time adjustments for good customers. (I.e. you pay your bill.)

If you don't want to sue, this sure beats hiring a credit repair company. And don't send out the arrogant form letters you find all over the web. Dispute as it applies to YOUR situation.
